THE ATLAS SERVICE

Gates & Barriers

Quality and reliability

Over 25 years specialisation goes into every gate and barrier system designed and installed by the Atlas Group using equipment from both the high quality range manufactured by Ceda, our Italian partner, and our own products.

Our systems use 'state-of-the-art' products which combine high quality and reliability with professional performance at a competitive price. They comply with all relevant UK and EC standards and are approved and used by many national and international companies as well as local authorities and other public organisations.

Service excellence

Our high quality products are backed up by real customer service. We like our engineers to work in partnership with our customers to provide help and guidance on the most effective and effi cient use of Atlas equipment.

Safety first

Safety is a very serious issue and as a matter of policy we assess the risk of every installation and put forward appropriate safety measures. All installations are inspected by a qualified technician and certified safe when operated in accordance with our instructions. We are not aware of a single accident involving our equipment.

Staying ahead

Our long experience means we have a deep understanding of the design and installation requirements of access control systems and this has enabled us to develop innovative equipment such as the Jo-Line advanced technology barrier that is helping to make our systems even more safe and reliable.

But innovation is never pursued at the expense of performance and reliability which is backed by a 'peace of mind' maintenance programme which includes free component loan during any workshop repairs and a priority call out service.

The brief was to control and monitor vehicle entry through multiple access points into this up-to- the-minute, high-tech business park in a vulnerable location.

We responded with a conventional traffic barrier solution. Three entrance points are equipped with rising arm barriers triggered for entry through proximity readers and intercom all monitored by CCTV from a control room. Underground loop vehicle detectors are fi tted for exit to allow rapid egress at peak times. Barriers and control equipment are fi nished in the client's corporate colours.

The equipment is regularly maintained and despite the complexity of this system no problems have been experienced in the ten years since installation Prudent security has prevented any incidence of crime or vehicle damage. The equipment is regularly maintained.

To ensure maximum security and control of vehicle movements on two sites, we were consulted to design and install two 5 metre wide cantilever gates and one 7 metre wide cantilever gate.

Each gate is operated by a powerful 3 phase motor incorporating appropriate safeguards against identifi ed risk to safety. The special self-supporting design obviates need of a sliding rail that would have been obtrusive and potentially hazardous.

Vehicle entry and exit is controlled from the security gate house so our client can rest assured that all movements are individually checked and validated. Vehicle transponders were considered but that option was too expensive and would not have provided the required fl exibility.

We were asked to solve a problem that the client had with vehicle break-ins in the car park of this high class Country House style hotel. A limited budget was affordable from the small, family run business.

We installed a pair of traditional wrought iron swing gates, 3.3 metres wide, appropriate to the character of the property. Entry and exit are controlled by intercom and by a keypad adjacent to the gates. To allow easy entrance at busy times, an automatic loop detection system is fi tted, switched from the reception desk to protect against "run-offs".

As usual, this contract was successfully completed on time and within budget.

The client approached us to defend his business premises against illegal stopping and camping by travellers.

Dual cantilever sliding gates combined with railings were installed to span a 20 metre wide roadway. Comprehensive safety systems were built into the design to protect users, employees and the general public. Entry to the two warehouses in the complex is controlled via intercom to each warehouse. Exit is by underground loop detectors.

The completed project has not only removed any risk of illegal stopping but occasional acts of vandalism and abuse have also been eradicated.

The client's brief was to secure access to this new high profi le business park.

The entrance roadway was 8 metres wide. Two skirted barriers were installed in tower bridge confi guration to control traffi c in both directions. A double height pedestal carries dual controls accessible by drivers of both commercial vehicles and cars. Each control unit utilises the public telephone network to communicate independently with individual enterprises. By this means visitors can be properly vetted and the barriers may be operated safely and securely. Exit is by underground detector loop. A timer opens the barriers during variable preset peak workday times.

This project was satisfactorily completed in record time to the delight of the client who now uses our services exclusively.
