Location: Royal Cornwall Hospital.
Rising arm barriers from the Atlas Group's Agies range are in use at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. The barriers are used to control parking on the hospital site in order to ensure the helipad is always clear for the helicopter to land and is also immediately accessible by ambulances from the close-by Accident and Emergency department. The helicopter service was inaugurated in 1987 and was the UK's first dedicated helicopter emergency medical service. It has since been called out to over 20,000 emergencies.
